In order to be admitted to the Accelerated MS in Economics Program, IU undergraduates need to complete the following two steps.
Step One: To be considered a candidate for AMP and get automatic Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) approval (exceptions to the requirements listed below will need DUS specific approval) an undergraduate will need the following.
- 3.0 GPA overall and in major.
- Completed at least 60 credit hours of undergraduate course work.
- B- or better in Math M211 or equivalent.
- Completed ECON E251 or ECON B251
- Completed one advanced elective for major.
(For economics this means a course that requires either or both ECON E321 and/or ECON E322 as a prerequisite. For other majors it would mean something equivalent for that major—an elective that has an intermediate foundation course as a prerequisite.)
- The prospective candidate should see the undergraduate economics advisor to complete the above screening and to have a note placed in their advising record to indicate their desire to apply to AMP. To contact the advisor, click here: https://economics.indiana.edu/forms/contact-form.html.
Step Two: Applying to the Master’s program.
- Speak with the Economics Department’s director of Master program (Prof. Alexeev) to gain understanding of course rigor and layout master course schedule.
